Mr. Frederico Ma, member of the CPPCC and president of the board of directors of Macao Chamber of Commerce, led a six-member delegation to visit Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea from February 16 to 20. They paid visits to Wu Jianghao, ambassador of the embassy of the people's republic of China in Japan, Xiao Jingru, chairman of Chinese chamber of commerce in Japan, Dai Bing, ambassador of the Embassy of the people's republic of China in the Republic of Korea, Yuan Kuotung chairman of Korea Chinese chamber of commerce & industry. The visits aimed to promote Macao's latest developments and to invite the Japanese and Korean Chinese Chambers of Commerce to form delegations to participate in the 18th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, which will be held in Macao from November 2nd to 4th this year by the Macao Chamber of Commerce. The delegation included Standing Directors Alberto Lei, Francisco Ho, Irwin Poon, Lao Chi Long, and Secretary Kong Fu Iok.

During the visits to various organizations, Frederico Ma extended Chinese New Year greetings, expressed gratitude for their warm hospitality, and provided detailed updates on Macao's social and economic situation as well as recent developments of the Macao Chamber of Commerce. He pointed out that Macao's selection as the "Culture City of East Asia 2025" last year has added another prestigious "golden business card" to its credentials. The " Culture City of East Asia " is Asia's first international cultural city designation program jointly initiated by China, Japan, and South Korea, implementing the essence of the trilateral leaders' meeting. It represents a significant achievement in cultural exchanges among the three countries and serves as an important East Asian regional cultural cooperation project. The Macao Chamber of Commerce's visit to Japan and South Korea carries special significance under the framework.

Frederico Ma noted that during President Xi Jinping's visit to Macao last year, he expressed "four hopes" for Macao, one of which was to "strive to build a higher-level platform for opening up." This involves leveraging Macao's unique advantage as a platform between Chinese and Western cultures, promoting international cultural exchanges, effectively telling China's and Macao’s stories, and creating an important window for exchange and mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations. The Macao Chamber of Commerce hopes to further strengthen exchanges and connections with chambers of commerce in Japan and South Korea, effectively share China's and Macao’s stories, promote broader cooperation across multiple sectors through civil society efforts, drive Macao's moderate economic diversification, and help Macao build a higher-level platform for opening up to the world.

In recent years, Chinese enterprises in Japan have developed rapidly in fields such as artificial intelligence, e-commerce, and home appliances. The MCC has been working tirelessly to promote national and Macao's social and economic development. He expressed hope that through hosting the 18th WCEC, the Chamber would effectively tell Macao's and China's stories, and promote further exchanges and cooperation among Chinese entrepreneurs, including those from Japan, to create new opportunities and seek new development together.

During his meeting with the MCC delegation, Ambassador Dai Bing stated that China and South Korea maintain close relations as neighboring countries, with extremely deep connections and exchanges in various aspects. The overseas Chinese living and working in South Korea have served as a bridge and bond in promoting the development of relations between the two countries. Last year, President Xi Jinping personally inspected Macao and delivered a series of important speeches, providing guidance for Macao's future development. He expressed hope that the MCC would steadfastly implement the essence of President Xi's important speeches and continue to write new chapters in the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems" in Macao.

Chairman Yuan Kuotung of Korea Chinese chamber of commerce & industry welcomed the MCC delegation and pointed out that currently, besides operating traditional businesses such as restaurants, Korean overseas Chinese are mostly engaged in China-Korea trade, garment exports, tourism, medical services, and other service industries. In recent years, Korean overseas Chinese have also actively participated in and promoted the development of emerging industries such as online gaming, film and entertainment, advertising, media, and IT. The KCCCI successfully hosted the 8th WCEC in Seoul in 2005, which helped elevate the social and economic status of Korean Chinese entrepreneurs and overseas Chinese, and attracted more Chinese entrepreneurs from around the world to conduct business and invest in South Korea. He believes that the WCEC to be hosted by the MCC this year will certainly bring new business opportunities to Macao.
